Does this date trigger any memory neurons?
The MSM seems to have developed an accute case of collective amnesia today. The Philadelphia Inquirer had nothing to remark on about this date, the columnist obviously were too distracted fantasizing about civil war in Iraq. How frakking pathetic!
Today is the anniversary of the first attack on the WTC on Feb. 26, 1993. I'd like to take this opportunity to reflect on that day. Liberals, please pay close attention, this attack happened eons before Sept 11, 2001. I realize you guys suffer cognitive disassociation issues with any event prior to 2001, so I will make this narrative as succinct as possible.
A Kuwaiti national, Ramzi Yousef, masterminded this bombing attack within the US. He arrived in the US under an IRAQI PASSPORT. Ramzi garnered the assistance of Abdul Rhaman Yasin, an IRAQI BOMBMAKER and Sheikh Omar Abdel Rhaman; a muslim cleric with ties to AL-QUEDA. The plan was to detonate this Cyanide laced bomb in the underground garage with the anticipation that Tower One would collapse onto Tower Two, taking them both down.
Febuary 26, 1993 was the first in a string of progressivly daring and violent attacks on American interests. Sadly, it was not until Sept 12, 2001 that the US began fighting back against these terrorist strikes. Thank You President Clinton.

| Robert Webb April 4, 2006 03:53 AM PDT Since we're engaging in a "history lesson" let's regress to 1979 when Iran took our embassy hostage and the impending Iraq-Iran war that Saddam waged-by proxy-for us from 1980-1988 as payback. Saddam was our busom buddy and pal then. So was Osama bin laden kiddies[remember we used him to defeat the Soviets in Afghanistan?]. While we're discussing "History 101" remember also that it was the U.S. that supplied Saddam with all those pesky WMDs in the first place. To hear General Colin Powell[then Sec. of State] in his speech at the U.N. you should think that he of all people would have known that while Saddam still had the technology, he had little if any weapons left after Desert Storm. If he had them he surely would have used them against coalition forces in either Gulf war. No, Mr. Bush wanted Saddam at any price. Why? Remember Saddam tried to have his dad killed in 1994 and there was a lot of bad blood that came to a boil after 9/11. With no link to al Qaida[that Yousef had an IRAQI passport is a shrill stretch at best] Mr. Bush would have said Saddam had missiles pointed at us from the moon if it meant vanquishing his arch-enemy! And we aren't about to lose control of those rich oil fields, either because the financiers of this war aren't doing it for nothing. So let's tell the WHOLE story. The press is SUPPOSED to call our government whenever it commits our blood and treasure to an "elective" war. Any less would be treasonous. And don't get me started on that subject because I could set your eyes on fire with what our government is doing behind all of our backs! | ||
| Alison - London March 2, 2006 06:28 PM PST Thanks for the reminder of those details. Do you know I can hardly recall it at all. Which is awful. But aptly demonstrates how the media suffer from amnesia when it suits them. When the papers started bashing British troops recently I delved into their own archives to recall pertinent details to place the alleged incidents in context. In articles they had penned only one year prior. But not a mention of it now it matters. Theyre so busy salivating over prospects of a civil war in Iraq we musnt pull them off topic eh. | ||
| Old Soldier February 28, 2006 08:04 PM PST Skye, thanks for the reminder. I rememberd the incident, but not the date. I believe Yasin was so inept in his bomb making skills that he managed to incinerate the cyanide in the blast and that the blast was not concentrated enough to cause the damage they hoped for. The alarm went off, but we hit snooze and went back to sleep. I wonder how long we can stay awake. There are those that are already trying to nod off... | ||
| Rob February 28, 2006 10:24 AM PST Skye, perhaps we should consult the Starr Report to determine whether there might have been any sort of "distracting" activity taking place in the Oval Office on February 26, 1993. One could hardly fault President Clinton for not thinking clearly if there was a lack of blood to his brain that day! I understand that was a frequent occurrence -- but, since it was a "private matter" (unlike Dick Cheney accidentally shooting his good friend in a hunting accident), we should hardly be critical of the former Commander-In-Chief! That would be like holding him accountable for refusing to interrupt his golf game to give the OK to take out Osama bin Laden when they had him in the crosshairs! Next thing you know, you'll be pointing out how, coincidentally, it was always necessary to fire a cruise missile at an aspirin factory or some minor thug somewhere just when the snare was tightening around him and his administration! How gauche of you to notice! ;-) | ||
| Robert February 27, 2006 06:42 PM PST Thank you for the reminder. Since the MSM is now effectively silenced on anything that might be 'inflammatory' in regard to the Religion of Peace, I suppose they didn't want to 'stir up bad memories' or something. | ||
| dcat/still at it ® February 26, 2006 09:36 PM PST Yeah and the stuck on stupid still blame Bush! It will be the liberals fault again since they would not let us drill in Alaska! | ||
